Life is Beautiful

You may have heard of the 1997 Roberto Benigni movie called “Life is beautiful”. Adapted from a story set in the turbulent times of World War II, it portrays how life changed almost in an instant as the Nazis gained power over large parts of Europe. The camera follows the story of a little Jewish family faced with the worst horrors of the concentration camp – separation from loved ones, starvation and hard labour. In the middle of this, an ingenious father invents a game to protect his toddler son from the brutal realities of the camp, and he successfully conditions his boy to believe that one day they would return to a world where life is indeed, beautiful.

Probably now more than ever before, as we are thrust into tumultuous times with pandemics, natural disasters and whatnot, the theme of this movie rings clear like a bell. It’s decided then. One must be willing to take a stand. For what? For kindness and decency, for goodwill and courage, for hope and gratitude – even against all odds. We must teach our children that values like these are the ones to contend for and pray for – things that will make the world a better place. And we order our lives by these values because shhh….the children are watching…and learning.

At Harbour International School we believe that every child is special and unique and deserves to be celebrated. Their creativity is not bound or constricted by space, time or even, lockdown. Therefore, the contest Life is Beautiful – an opportunity to celebrate their imagination and creativity during this unforeseen time! This contest is also held as an effort to raise funds for the school and each amount received from your entries will be channelled towards overheads like subject and curriculum resources, library advancement etc. that will help enhance the overall learning experience for every child who walks into our doors.

Harbour International School proudly presents Life is Beautiful, a creative contest.
